ABOUT MIA
Mia Laren is a singer, songwriter, producer, and professional dancer from Baltimore, Maryland, now located in San Diego, California. Mia’s music career began about five years ago when she began producing many originals from her laptop. Mia grew up in a musical family, supporting her father with his local band. She began singing at the age of 10 when she was accepted into the Peabody Choir. As Mia’s love for music grew, she began to take interest in dance. Mia graduated from UMBC with a Bachelor of the art in dance. When she began making music, she used the rhythm and expression of dance to create empowering musical pieces that replicated her life.
Her genre is pop, dance-pop, Latin, and folk. When she began producing music she fell in love with the process. She fell in love with being able to express herself through the power of words. Every song she writes tells a part of her that she doesn't share often. When she begins to write a song, she imagines herself dancing to the rhythm, connecting with the melody, and wanting to hit repeat. With no prior background in music production, she truly believes that dance allowed her to create music by imagining the patterns in which music flows. "Music is truly the connection to the soul.
